Hi, I'm writing to suggest a command-line option to exclude a directory
if a given filename is present in it.
For example, I've been using rdiff-backup, and it has a
"--exclude-if-present filename" option that's very handy. That way I
touched an empty "_nobackup_" file (for example) in directories I want
to exclude, and I didn't need to mantain a separate list of such
   directories.

   Bye and thanks
   Michele Alessandrini

this is a very good idea, thank you for sharing it with us.

This feature actually already exists and the special file you mention
   is called CACHEDIR.TAG.
Read more about it in the official manual:

   Best regards

   Hi, thanks for your reply!
I didn't notice that... My only doubts is that many directories would
appear as cache directories if some other programs was aware of that
file, and from what I read the file must contain some special bytes.
Wouldn't be better a more generic option?
   Thanks again
   Michele

I agree that a more generic option would be nice. Someone needs to
   write the code, though.

   Of course.
